Chris Jericho got the win, but Nick Wayne made sure he didn’t get to enjoy it for long. During the September 16, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite, Wayne completely snapped after losing to Jericho and unloaded on the veteran with a chair after the bell.
Jericho and Wayne had already beaten the hell out of each other before things went off the rails. Wayne hit Jericho with a Destroyer on the floor and came close to putting him away several times, while Jericho answered with a Codebreaker and continued fighting through everything Wayne threw at him.
The finish came after Jericho accidentally destroyed Wayne’s necklace during the match. Jericho immediately capitalized by rolling Wayne up and stealing the three-count, giving him the victory while Wayne was left furious over both the loss and what happened to the necklace.
That’s when things got ugly. Jericho tried to extend a hand to Wayne after the match, but Wayne wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Instead, he refused the handshake, grabbed a chair and brutally attacked Jericho before taking his necklace and walking away while Jericho was left hurting in the ring.
Wayne losing the match was almost an afterthought by the time he was finished. Jericho may have had his hand raised, but Wayne made sure the lasting image from their fight was Jericho laid out after a vicious post-match assault.
