As it turns out, Chelsea’s mom decided to settle the score herself after seeing Hayes question her daughter’s potential on WWE Unreal.
Speaking on the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona shared the hilarious backstage story, revealing that Green’s mom walked right up to Hayes and hit him with a blunt two-word message that quickly became the talk of WWE. Cardona said he thought his own dad had embarrassing moments at wrestling shows until he witnessed what happened at SummerSlam.
I thought my dad was embarrassing at shows. Chelsea Green’s mom at SummerSlam… calling Punk, ‘Hi, CM!’ And then she said, ‘I don’t know if I should say this, but I’m gonna say it.’ She said, ‘Are you Michael Hayes?’ And then he says, ‘Yes.’ She goes, ‘F*** you.'”
Chelsea Green then filled in the rest of the story, explaining that her mom introduced herself before delivering the message.
“My mom went up to Michael Hayes and said… did she say, ‘Do you know who I am?’ Or she said, like, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m Chelsea’s mom, and I wanted to tell you something.'”
According to Green, Hayes was completely caught off guard and simply asked what she wanted to say. Then her mother dropped an f-bomb directly at Hayes, something that no one could’ve seen coming.
“He said, ‘Oh, yeah. What did you want to tell me?’ She said, ‘F*** you.’ That’s it. Nothing else.”
Rather than getting angry, Hayes apparently found the whole thing amusing enough that he immediately told everyone backstage about it.
“And then Michael Hayes went back to the producers’ office and told every single person there. So now Bruce Prichard is asking me—everyone’s asking me—’You have to tell me what happened.'”
The story comes just weeks after Green revealed she’d completely changed her opinion of Hayes’ controversial comments on WWE Unreal. While she initially admitted the criticism stung, she later credited Hayes for pushing her to another level and even dedicated her SummerSlam Women’s Championship win to him, saying the criticism ultimately helped motivate her. Apparently, Chelsea and Michael Hayes have buried the hatchet—but her mom clearly hadn’t gotten that memo before SummerSlam.
