Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona have plenty happening in wrestling, but Green says the thing they really want next has nothing to do with championships.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Green was asked to name three things she was grateful for. After talking about her health and the fans who backed her WWE run, Green got personal when discussing life with Cardona. Green said the couple now has their house, their careers are moving forward and their next major goal is starting a family.
“I think the third thing is, like, I am so grateful that I’m in this amazing place in my life with my husband where, like, the next step is going to be to start a family. Like, right? We have the house, we’ve done the things, we’re growing the bank account, the fur babies are happy, my family is healthy and happy.”
Green made it clear that Hollywood opportunities for herself and major wrestling moments for Cardona still matter, but she said having children is what they really want moving forward.
“Yes, breaking into Hollywood on my end, I would love for that to happen. Matt getting a storyline that fills his cup, winning, you know, the title at WWE, those moments are amazing, but like what we just want moving forward is to start a family.”
At 35, Green said she finally feels comfortable discussing those plans openly with WWE. When the possibility of taking significant time away came up, Green said there are several options on the table—including surrogacy.
“I’m grateful that I’m now finally at 35 in a place where I can do it and I’m having those open and honest conversations with WWE.”
“Maybe surrogacy is for me. I don’t know. Like, all those conversations are conversations that now I finally feel okay to have. I would be so scared even last year to have those conversations. But now, like, WWE is—they’ve given me so much that it’s my duty to be honest with them, right? Like, I don’t want to blindside them.”
Green said she wants WWE to understand exactly where she is in her life and stressed that while she knows she wants children, she hasn’t decided how she and Cardona will ultimately start their family. Green even joked that Cardona may need to start protecting his infamous action figure collection once children enter the picture.
“I want them to know that I’m a 35-year-old woman who has all my ducks in a row. So, and I do want kids. I just don’t know how I want them. I know I want them and I know that, you know, I’m blessed enough to be in a place where surrogacy could be a thing, but like if it happens naturally, like that’s amazing.”
“The kids eating the heads and the helmets and the hands will be the problem. They’ll be sticking them up their nostrils and we’ll be having to take them out with tweezers. Like, I can’t wait till I get to do that.”
Green and Cardona have spent years chasing wrestling goals, building careers and putting together the life they wanted. Now Green says starting a family is the next thing they really want—and she’s already making sure WWE knows that could eventually affect her time in the ring.
