Charlotte Flair has won world championships, headlined premium live events, and built one of the most decorated careers in WWE history.
But after more than a decade with the company, there’s still one thing she says she’s never done—and now she’s ready to give it a shot. Speaking with WFAN, Flair revealed she’s interested in exploring a romantic storyline on WWE television, admitting it’s one area of her career that’s remained untouched.
“I’ve never been involved in like a romantic storyline or have been opposite a male character. So I think that would be cool.”
That immediately led to the obvious follow-up question. If Charlotte could choose anyone on the roster, who would be the other half of the storyline? The interviewer threw out Cody Rhodes’ name, but Flair explained that pairing wouldn’t really be about romance. Instead, she sees it as something built around power and legacy.
“If it was Cody, I think that would be more about legacy and power versus romance.”
She pointed to the similarities between the two, noting that both come from legendary wrestling families. Rather than a traditional love story, Flair thinks the dynamic would revolve around two larger-than-life personalities trying to dominate WWE together.
“Second generation. Second generation. His dad coached me, taught me, and then kind of the characters are similar in some ways. Yeah. But it would be more for dominance and power, kind of more of an authority, right, versus a love angle. It would not end well either.”
It’s an interesting idea from someone who has already accomplished just about everything else in WWE. Despite countless championship reigns and some of the biggest matches in women’s wrestling history, Charlotte says a romantic storyline is one chapter that’s still missing from her résumé. Whether WWE ever decides to make that happen remains to be seen, but Flair clearly isn’t opposed to trying something completely different after all these years.
