Carmelo Hayes isn’t interested in just showing up — if he’s not front and center, he’d rather not be there at all.
While speaking to The Mark Hoke Show, Hayes was asked about potentially appearing at WrestleMania in some capacity despite not being in a featured match. The idea of making a cameo or getting involved in another segment was floated, but Hayes shut that down immediately and made his stance crystal clear.
“You know what? Truthfully, if I'm not the spotlight, I don't want none of it. I don't play second fiddle. I don't play background. You know what I mean? I'm not a supporting character. I'm either the character or I'm not involved at all.”
Hayes didn’t hesitate when drawing that line. For him, it’s not about simply being part of WrestleMania — it’s about being a major part of it. That mentality lines up with how he’s carried himself throughout his run, consistently pushing the idea that he belongs at the top of the card.
Even without a match at WrestleMania this year, Hayes is making it clear he’s not lowering his standards or settling for less. He sees himself as a featured act, and anything short of that isn’t worth his time.
