Oba Femi had no clue what Brock Lesnar was about to do after their Hell in a Cell battle—and apparently neither did anybody else around ringside.

Speaking during an interview about his WWE career with ABC 33/40, Femi was asked about the moment Lesnar initially walked away after their match before suddenly turning around and heading back toward the ring. Femi said he immediately went on alert because he had no idea why Lesnar was coming back.

“I remember him—I see him on his wide back walking away. I’m like, ‘Wow, that was tough.’ And then I see him spin the block. I’m like, ‘Oh man, what’s going on? What do we have now?’ And then he walks back and I’m on guard. I’m like, ‘Oh, it could be anything.’ And then he comes in and it’s this big endorsement, very out of character for him, and it’s this like huge moment.”

Instead of another fight, Lesnar gave Femi a major show of respect. Femi said the moment meant even more because Lesnar didn’t simply let their match speak for itself—he came back and made his feelings clear.

“So, I’m happy that he trusted enough in his choice to even come back and like not just implicitly tell them through the match, but like explicitly say like, ‘This is our guy.’”

The interviewer then asked Femi directly if he knew the post-match moment was coming. He didn’t. Femi said the surprise extended beyond him, claiming even the camera crew was caught off guard by Lesnar’s decision.

“Not at all. No, nobody saw it coming. The camera guys, everybody was taken back. Everybody was surprised that in the 25-year career of Brock Lesnar, he’s never done anything like that.”

That makes the moment even bigger for Femi. Lesnar spent decades as one of WWE’s most protected and intimidating stars, so seeing him return to the ring simply to give another wrestler that kind of public endorsement was anything but normal. For Femi, the match itself was already a massive test. Lesnar coming back afterward and putting his stamp of approval on him turned it into something he clearly won’t forget.

What did you think about Brock Lesnar coming back to endorse Oba Femi after their match? Was it a sign WWE sees Femi as one of its next major stars? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
