Brock Lesnar has been keeping a pretty low profile since calling it a career, but that changed this week. Instead of showing up at a wrestling event or teasing another comeback, The Beast Incarnate was spotted doing something a whole lot simpler.
On September 25, Lesnar was seen hanging out with a youth hockey team, stopping for photos and looking genuinely happy as he smiled alongside the young players. It marks one of the first public sightings of Lesnar since announcing his retirement from professional wrestling in August.
That retirement caught a lot of people off guard. Just days after losing to Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, Lesnar appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and said he was officially done with wrestling.
“I’m here today to let the world know that I am retired… Saturday, that’s it for me in the squared circle and for everything else too.”
The announcement sounded pretty definitive, but people inside WWE weren’t convinced it would stick. A few days later, WrestleVotes Radio reported there are still high-ranking officials who expect Lesnar to be involved with WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia somehow. Whether that’s one last match or a WWE Hall of Fame induction is still up in the air, but the belief backstage is that Lesnar’s story with WWE might not be completely finished.
There was even talk that the right Saudi payday could change everything. GUNTHER, Bron Breakker and Oba Femi have all been mentioned as possible opponents if Lesnar ever decides to lace up the boots again, although none of those matches have been discussed as actual WWE plans.
For now, though, none of that seems to matter much to Lesnar. He’s not cutting promos or dropping cryptic hints about coming back. He’s just out enjoying life, taking pictures with a bunch of young hockey players and looking like someone who’s perfectly happy away from the limelight. Bottom line: Lesnar doesn’t look like a guy who’s spending much time thinking about wrestling these days.
