Britt Baker just put her bond with Rebel front and center as AEW prepares a special show in her honor.
On August 26, Baker shared photos from ALS Nexus in Orlando and praised Rebel for refusing to let her terminal ALS diagnosis take away her attitude, humor or ability to light up a room. Baker called the past few days “incredible” and said the love inside the event was difficult to put into words. She also praised everyone who came together to fight, educate and raise awareness about ALS.
“What an incredible couple of days at ALS Nexus in Orlando. The strength, love, and sense of community in that room was something truly special. I don’t have the right words to explain how moving this event was to experience… but seeing so many awesome people come together to fight, advocate, educate, and remind everyone affected by ALS that they are never fighting alone.”
Baker then turned the spotlight directly toward Rebel, calling her the star of the entire conference after she took the stage and spoke.
“Rebel Tanea was obviously the star of the show. She spoke at the conference and absolutely killed it! She is a rockstar in every way.”
The former AEW Women’s World Champion didn’t sugarcoat what ALS has done, but she made it clear the disease hasn’t taken away the things that make Rebel who she is.
“ALS has definitely changed a lot, but it hasn’t touched the things that make Rebel… Rebel. She’s the toughest cookie I know with the same kick-ass attitude she’s always had… with the same hilarious sense of humor and ability to make everyone around her laugh. A Rebel heart.”
Baker finished by asking fans to continue donating and raising awareness through I AM ALS and Team Gleason. She also pushed AEW’s Rebel Heart merchandise and thanked the ALS Association for hosting the Orlando event.
The post comes as Baker’s name is being discussed for AEW’s special “Rebel Heart” edition of Dynamite on September 9 in Athens, Georgia. According to Sean Ross Sapp during a Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Baker has come up in conversations about the tribute show, but her appearance is not locked in.
Baker hasn’t appeared on AEW television since November 13, 2024, when she confronted Serena Deeb on Dynamite. When a fan recently asked whether she would ever wrestle again, Baker threw the question right back.
“I dunno, should I?”
Baker’s emotional message doesn’t confirm an AEW return, but it shows exactly how much Rebel still means to her. If AEW wants Baker back for one night after nearly two years away, the September 9 tribute show couldn’t offer a more personal reason.
