Britt Baker hasn’t been anywhere near AEW television for nearly two years. Now there’s finally one show that could bring her back through the door.
According to Sean Ross Sapp during a Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Baker’s name has come up within AEW for the special Rebel Heart edition of Dynamite on September 9, which will honor Rebel following her terminal ALS diagnosis.
The reason isn’t difficult to figure out. Rebel spent years alongside Baker on AEW television and became a major part of her act. The two remain close, making Baker an obvious name to discuss when AEW started putting together the tribute show in Athens, Georgia.
But that doesn’t mean the comeback is locked in. Baker has only been brought up in conversations about the show. There is no confirmation she’s appearing, and more importantly, nothing else has changed regarding her standing with AEW.
She still hasn’t been wrestling. She still hasn’t been backstage. There still isn’t some larger creative plan waiting to bring her back. That’s what makes this one interesting.
Baker hasn’t appeared on AEW television since November 13, 2024, when she confronted Serena Deeb on Dynamite. Since then, her name has occasionally surfaced for possible ideas without any of them actually getting her back on television.
Even Baker hasn’t been giving away much. When a fan recently asked whether she was ever going to wrestle again, she threw the question right back.
“I dunno, should I?”
Now, after nearly two years of nothing, Baker’s name is at least being discussed for an AEW show again. It doesn’t mean Britt Baker is back. It doesn’t mean she’s wrestling again. But with AEW preparing a night dedicated to someone who was such a huge part of her career, September 9 could give Baker something she hasn’t had since 2024—a reason to walk back onto Dynamite.
