Bray Wyatt returned to WWE in 2022 with an entirely new world surrounding him, but apparently there was another version of Wyatt waiting in the shadows before any of that happened. Four years later, fans are finally getting a look at “Sixx,” a character that never made it out of the photoshoot.
Jason Baker, who worked closely with Wyatt on his masks and character designs, took to Twitter on September 7 and shared several photos he had never seen from a 2022 shoot. Wyatt is almost unrecognizable in them, wearing a mechanical-looking mask, different gear and several details that were supposed to change as the character itself evolved.
“Sixx” wasn’t actually an official WWE name. Baker explained that he, Nick Manfredini and “Hoot” simply started calling the character that while they were developing the idea with Wyatt.
“Amazing photos of @Windham6 wearing the ‘Sixx’ mask and gear. (Unofficial name that myself, @Nick_Manfredini & Hoot were calling the character) I’ve never seen these since we did this photoshoot back in 2022.”
The timing makes the photos even more interesting. According to Baker, Wyatt was working on Sixx because he wanted to experiment with something completely different before potentially returning to The Fiend.
“Windham wanted to try something new before bringing back the Fiend.”
This wasn’t just another scary mask with different wrestling gear either. Wyatt apparently imagined Sixx as something that would never really have a finished form. Baker described it as a “calculating” machine that would continuously alter itself. Everything from the fingers to the jaw and jacket was designed around that idea.
“A character that like Windham was always evolving, changing, modifying itself. A calculating ever changing machine.”
Even the smallest details had a reason for being there. The biomechanical fingers, iron jaw, harnesses and human anatomy worked into the gear were all supposed to represent different pieces of Sixx’s evolution.
“The bio mechanical fingers, the iron jaw, the harnesses, even the homage to human anatomy in his gear, jacket, and mask was all part of the character’s evolution. And all that could have been ??”
Sixx never got the chance to answer that question. Wyatt ultimately returned at Extreme Rules in October 2022 with a different presentation, while Uncle Howdy, portrayed by his brother Bo Dallas, eventually became part of the strange new world surrounding him.
There’s no way of knowing what Sixx would have eventually become, and that might be the most Bray Wyatt thing about these photos. The character was literally designed to never stop changing, and now fans are seeing only the version that existed when somebody happened to press the camera shutter in 2022.
