Montez Ford has been locked in battle with The Bloodline since 2021, dating back to when The Street Profits clashed with The Usos . Now, Ford finds himself continuing this rivalry with Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa, the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions.
In an interview with the Daily Star, Ford compared the Bloodline’s ongoing dominance to the nWo faction from the 90s, noting the similarities in their impact and ability to evolve.
“They do. Same vibe. All these new variants, and they wear red and black like the Wolfpac. The only difference is the name.”
Ford elaborated on how the Bloodline has evolved into a complex force, where its members must now reckon with the consequences of the chaos they initially created:
“They didn’t realize how much power they created because now, the very same thing they’ve created is the same thing they have to form up and destroy.”
Drawing further analogies, Ford described the dynamics of the Bloodline as resembling Marvel’s Avengers, referencing how even heroes sometimes need the villain they once opposed to fight a greater threat.
“It looks like the Avengers all over again. They got rid of Thanos, but Thanos is the same person they need to take care of the new threat. Bloodline is a huge threat, but now, another variant has formed, and that same Bloodline that caused the havoc, now has to take out the new havoc because this new variant is different and a little more rogue.“
The WWE Tag Team Champions, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa, successfully retained their titles in a ladder match against the Street Profits and DIY on the October 4th episode of SmackDown. Ford noted that while he has been preoccupied with reclaiming tag team gold, the complicated web of alliances within the Bloodline has only added more layers to his already intense rivalry.
“You’re asking Kevin (Owens) or Cody (Rhodes). They got their own stuff to worry about. Weren’t ya’ll the same people that caused the havoc before? Make it make sense.”
With tensions boiling and Ford’s ambitions still centered on becoming tag team champion, it remains to be seen how his role in this volatile rivalry will evolve.
