Blake Monroe was supposed to make her official SmackDown in-ring debut on August 21, but fans never got to see it happen.
Monroe had been advertised to face Giulia in singles action on Friday Night SmackDown from Toronto. The match was set to mark Monroe’s first official bout on the blue brand after previously making her presence felt on the main roster. Instead, Monroe made sure the match never even started.
As Giulia was making her way to the ring, Monroe attacked her before the opening bell. Blake beat Giulia down at ringside and sent her crashing into the steel ring steps before drilling her with a headbutt. Monroe then hit Giulia with The Neutralizer and left her laying.
Blake’s music hit afterward and she walked away, but the key detail is that the bell never rang. That means Monroe’s advertised SmackDown in-ring debut never officially took place.
Before the scheduled match, Monroe was interviewed backstage and made it clear she felt her debut should have been for the WWE Championship. She also referred to Giulia as an old friend and took a shot at Toronto, saying a match involving her belonged somewhere like Milan or Paris instead. Monroe finished by saying she planned to do what she does best and make everyone talk about her. She certainly managed to do that, just not by having an actual match.
WWE had promoted Monroe vs. Giulia as her first SmackDown bout, but the pre-match attack wiped that debut off the board before it could become official. Fans will now have to wait a little longer to see Blake Monroe actually compete inside a SmackDown ring.
