TNA’s Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory had plenty of surprises, but one of the biggest came late in the match when a familiar face from the independent scene suddenly showed up.

As the 19th entrant in the gauntlet, popular indie wrestler Ben Bishop made his surprise TNA debut. Instead of quietly walking to the ring, Bishop made sure everyone knew exactly why he was there. Before entering the match, Bishop took out Jada Stone, took her spot in the bout and grabbed a microphone. He said he’d spent long enough waiting for opportunities and decided he was done waiting around for someone else to hand him one.

“I’ve been waiting for opportunities long enough. If nobody’s going to give me one, I’m taking one myself… Welcome to T-Ben-A.”

With that, Bishop’s music hit and he officially entered the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, getting one of the night’s loudest reactions. It was an unexpected way to introduce himself to the TNA audience, and he immediately made it clear he wasn’t looking to ease his way into the company.

Bishop has built a strong reputation on the independent wrestling scene over the last few years, and his surprise appearance at Bound for Glory could be a sign that TNA has bigger plans for him going forward. Whether this was a one-night surprise or the beginning of a full-time run remains to be seen, but he certainly made sure fans won’t forget his debut anytime soon.
