Becky Lynch has finally explained why she has been missing from WWE television, and The Man’s answer is exactly what you would expect—she believes the entire show needed to feel what life was like without her.
During an appearance on Off The Ropes, Lynch was asked about her absence from WWE programming. She didn’t offer an injury update or blame creative. Instead, Becky claimed she stepped away to remind everyone just how badly WWE needs her.
“We do need me. Sometimes you’ve got to let them know. Sometimes you’ve got to point the torch. You’ve got to be the lighthouse.”
Lynch then painted herself as the light WWE has been missing, asking fans whether the product has actually been entertaining without her around. Becky didn’t stop there. She said WWE television needs more of her, and she expects fans to realize she was the missing piece whenever she finally walks back through the curtain.
“You’ve got to say, ‘Okay, guys, what did you want? What did you want? Well, here’s the light. Here’s the rest. Here’s what it looks like without me. Do you like it? Do you like it? Is it exciting? Is it fun? No! It’s not!’”
“It needs more Becky Lynch, and then you come back and everybody goes, ‘I knew it. It was her all along.’”
Lynch has not appeared on WWE television since June. Her last major run ended after she lost the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Sol Ruca at Clash in Italy, bringing her third reign with the title to an end. The loss didn’t exactly humble her. Lynch blamed the referee, questioned Ruca’s footwear and claimed she had been robbed of the championship.
“Last night, I was once again robbed of my title by Crooked Carr! Clearly, I had So Sad Sol pinned for more than the count of three when Carr inexplicably dove out of the ring. A total mess!”
“I soldiered on but suffered a severe hematoma. My lawyers are looking into Rotten Ruca’s footwear. They suspect they’re not regulatory! Doctors say they’re shocked I was able to continue, but I told them, ‘You can’t hold down The Man!’”
Ringside News previously reported that Lynch was expected to return after SummerSlam, so fans may still have to wait before she proves her point in person. Whenever she does come back, Becky clearly expects the reaction to be less “welcome back” and more “we should have appreciated you while you were here.”
