Becky Lynch is addressing the “Becky Hogan”head-on—and instead of brushing it off, she’s explaining exactly why it keeps happening.

This comes from her interview with Chris Van Vliet, where Becky Lynch was asked about the ongoing criticism from fans who claim she doesn’t put other wrestlers over. The nickname has been circulating for a while now, suggesting she protects her spot—but Lynch didn’t hesitate to respond.

When it was pointed out that she’s worked with and elevated names like Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Maxxine Dupri, Zoey Stark, and Lyra Valkyria, Lynch shifted the focus to how this kind of reaction tends to follow anyone positioned at the top.

“Oh yeah—I know. I’m terrible at that. I think when you’re at the top of the card, it happens to anybody. No one comes unscathed.”

She then pointed out that she’s far from the only one to get that label, naming other top stars who’ve been hit with the same comparison. Lynch also referenced Hulk Hogan, noting the irony behind the comparison given his legacy.

“It was ‘Sami Hogan,’ it might still be ‘Sami Hogan.’ It’s ‘Cody Hogan,’ ‘Roman Hogan,’ ‘Seth Hogan’—we’re all Hogan. Say what you will about the man—he’s one of the biggest stars to ever exist.”

From there, she got into what she believes is the real disconnect—how fans interpret long title runs or consistent positioning at the top. Lynch made it clear she’s not trying to argue with that perception, even if she disagrees with it.

“I think it becomes this thing—people don’t understand how creative happens. And if they see someone who is in a preferable spot for a long time, they go, ‘Oh, that’s because they’re politicking and trying to hold everybody down.’ People don’t know how it happens and don’t know what goes into it. That’s fine—they’re entitled to their opinions. Have your opinions—go nuts.”

Instead of pushing back, she explained that she focuses on her work and lets reactions—good or bad—exist without trying to control them. She even suggested that criticism itself can become useful, especially when it comes to building stories and evolving her character.

“I’m just going to do what I do, and how you feel about me is how you feel about me. I don’t want to stifle what you feel. If you feel I’m a politicking egomaniac—great. How am I going to use that to tell another story and help someone else out? It’s wonderful. It’s amazing.”

Bottom line: Becky Lynch isn’t fighting the narrative—she’s embracing it. And in her view, the “Hogan” label isn’t unique to her, but something that follows anyone who stays in a top spot long enough in WWE. So rather than fighting it, she’s turning that perception into part of the performance.
