Becky Lynch wasn’t willing to compromise when it came to protecting one of her biggest WrestleMania storylines.

During a conversation with Vulture, Lynch spoke about her rivalry with Bianca Belair and revealed that WWE once considered turning their planned singles match into a triple threat. While that idea may have added another name to the lineup, Lynch believed it would have weakened the story fans had invested in.

She explained that when the idea was presented, she made it clear she wasn’t backing down.

“At one point they wanted to put somebody else into the match—like make it a triple threat—but I was like, ‘That's not the story.’ And that was going to be my hill that I died on. I was ready to really fight… and thankfully they changed it because it needed to go back to Bianca.”

Lynch went on to explain that the payoff of the rivalry depended on keeping the match focused on the original two competitors. For her, adding another wrestler risked damaging the emotional conclusion the story needed.

“If it had gone to the triple threat, they would have given up… they would have kept it on me. But it needed—the story needed—for Bianca to win and take that victory. And it just felt like such a happy, perfect ending.”

Her comments provide a rare look into how strongly top performers sometimes advocate for specific creative decisions. In this case, Lynch’s refusal to accept the change helped preserve the one-on-one payoff that ultimately defined the rivalry.
