Bayley is taking a hard look at everything she has accomplished in WWE, and her latest comments sound like someone who knows she has reached a major turning point in her career.
In a vlog posted Tuesday, Bayley took fans behind the scenes of Saturday Night’s Main Event and opened up before facing Lyra Valkyria at Madison Square Garden. She admitted that the match felt different from her previous appearances inside the legendary venue. Bayley has wrestled at Madison Square Garden several times, but this night carried more weight because of where she currently stands in the wrestling business.
“I’ve been doing this for so long, and I’ve wrestled in the Garden multiple times—a really good amount of times, thankfully—but this one just feels different.”
The former WWE Women’s Champion then explained that she has started viewing her entire career through a different lens. Bayley is no longer simply moving from one match to the next. She is looking back at what she has done, where she stands and what she believes she is worth.
“The time and the stage I am in my career right now, I feel like I’m taking a further look back at everything and seeing it from a different view, knowing my place in this business and knowing my worth in this business.”
“Lyra is going to find out the hard way.”
Things did not go Bayley’s way once the bell rang. Lyra defeated her clean before dropping her onto the steel steps with a Nightwing. Lyra later claimed on RAW that she had “run Bayley out of here,” while Bayley disappeared from WWE television.
The comments also hit differently with questions continuing to surround Bayley’s contract. Dave Meltzer previously noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there had been backstage talk about the match possibly being Bayley’s final appearance at Madison Square Garden.
Bayley was also removed from WWE’s advertised SummerSlam Prospect Tryout VIP Experience, with Ivy Nile taking her place. She has since returned to the ring at a live event in Stockton, California, where she competed against Lyra and Sol Ruca in a triple threat match.
That return showed Bayley is still working for WWE, but it did not erase the message from her vlog. She is clearly reflecting on her career, her value and what the next chapter could look like.
Bayley did not say she is leaving WWE, but this was not the usual pre-match hype either. Her words sounded like a veteran stepping back, looking at the entire picture and deciding exactly what she wants from the rest of her career.
