TNA’s creative shakeup is not slowing down after Tommy Dreamer’s exit, and now another name is getting pulled into the room.

According to Fightful Select, Tompkins is set to join TNA’s creative team after making a strong impression with last week’s AJ Francis segment, which drew praise backstage and from viewers. That is pretty good timing, because TNA is currently in the middle of Slammiversary in Boston while the company continues figuring out its post-Tommy Dreamer creative setup.

“Eric Tompkins is set to join TNA’s creative team. Tompkins was involved in last week’s AJ Francis segment, which drew significant praise backstage and among viewers.”

Tommy Dreamer’s departure left TNA with a major hole behind the scenes, and we previously reported that Delirious is believed to be stepping in as the lead creative voice. So the picture right now looks like this: Delirious at the front, Tompkins joining the room, and TNA trying to steady the ship during one of its biggest nights of the year.

There’s another wrinkle too. PWInsider noted that Brian “Road Dogg” James was spotted at Slammiversary and is expected to start with TNA in a backstage role. So it does show TNA is adding more experienced hands while the creative department gets reshuffled.

That timing is what makes this whole thing interesting. TNA is not waiting until after Slammiversary to start moving pieces around. The company has one of its biggest events happening right now, Dreamer is out, Delirious is taking the lead, Tompkins is coming in after a praised segment, and Road Dogg is already in the building.

Bottom line, TNA’s backstage reset is not some slow-burn rumor anymore. It is happening while the show is going on, and Tompkins may have picked the perfect time to make a strong impression.
