Angel Garza Quietly Lost & Regained His WWE Gimmick

The Lethal Lovers have been getting a renewed push in WWE lately. The team even got a clean victory over The New Day on a recent episode of SmackDown. Los Lotharios have seen their characters slightly tweaked and could be headed for a nice run.

It was recently reported that Angel was dropping the gimmick where he tore off his breakaway pants. For a brief time that was true. Angel has started doing the routine again.

Dave Meltzer talked about the odd decision in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. WWE management initially told Angel not to do the gimmick anymore. The routine was quietly back with no mention two weeks later.

"I had mistakenly said that Angel wasn’t doing the tear away pants gimmick on a recent show when he did it without it being a production. The funny part of the story is that several months ago he was told no more of that gimmick. Then two weeks later, he was told management changed its mind and he was back to doing it. It was so brief that nobody even noticed or knew it happened."

Angel now has a pinfall win against former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. The Lethal Lovers are getting placed in good spots on the card. They could be the next tag team to get a strong push.

The tearaway pants routine is such a small detail. WWE is a very hands-on company. It’s no surprise that such a thing was tinkered with as they try to perfect the Lethal Lovers characters.
