Andrade says fans are seeing a lot more of the real him these days, and he credits one major change in his personal life for it. According to Andrade, his divorce from Charlotte Flair made him feel like he could finally loosen up and show parts of his personality that he previously held back out of respect for his marriage.
Speaking with Latin Lover, Andrade was told that he seems much more relaxed and natural now. Andrade agreed and explained that after his divorce, he started thinking about how his personality as a Latino could actually become part of what fans see from him.
“Now, about feeling more loose, like you said, that you see me that way… The truth is, after I got divorced, I started thinking, ‘Well, what is a Latino?’ With respect. You’re Latin Lover, right? What is a Latino? He’s happy, he’s lively, he’s got that vibe. If there’s a girl there, it’s like, ‘Hey, that dress looks good on you,’ little things like that, joking around, between friends.”
Latin Lover pointed out that this is exactly what Andrade has been doing lately, whether he’s interacting with women, referees or people in the crowd. Andrade said there’s a pretty simple reason it feels natural—it isn’t something he invented for wrestling.
“That’s how I am. I didn’t do it out of respect for my wife.”
Andrade explained that while he was married to Charlotte, he deliberately kept that side of himself under control. It wasn’t because WWE or anyone else told him to do it—he simply didn’t want anything he did as part of his wrestling persona to disrespect his wife.
“Out of respect for my wife, more than anything. Now the divorce happened and I said, ‘Now I can be myself.’”
That freedom has apparently carried directly into his performances. Andrade said the more playful version fans are seeing now—including the way he interacts with referees—is much closer to how he actually behaves.
“I loosened up. I’m who I am. Now I can grab the referee and give her a little kiss and everything. That’s how I am. That’s really how I am.”
It’s an interesting follow-up to how Andrade previously spoke about the divorce in December 2025. Back then, he had nothing but praise for Charlotte and put the failure of their marriage entirely on himself.
“She is amazing. Charlotte is amazing. She’s an amazing woman and an amazing person. She was an amazing wife. I lost her. She did not lose me. It was a simple divorce, and I said that, yeah. But the problem was not her. The problem was me.”
Bottom line: We now have an Andrade who feels comfortable flirting, joking around and playing with the crowd without worrying about how it might look back home. For him, what fans are seeing now isn’t a new gimmick at all—it’s just Andrade with the filter taken off.
