Andrade’s comments about WWE giving Samoan wrestlers more opportunities than Mexican talent didn’t take long to get a reaction. One fan called it “crying” and asked why Andrade went back to WWE at all—and Andrade came back with an appropriate response.
The fan hit Andrade with three questions on Twitter. Why did he leave AEW for WWE? Were Samoan wrestlers holding him back in AEW too? Does AEW also push Samoan wrestlers? Andrade took to Twitter and answered all three. First, he explained why he made the decision to return to WWE. It wasn’t because he thought AEW had treated him badly.
“1 I wanted to work with my ex-wife.”
The fan’s second question went directly at Andrade’s complaint about Samoan wrestlers getting more opportunities in WWE. When asked if he felt those same wrestlers were somehow holding him back in AEW, Andrade immediately shut that down.
“2 No! They always treated me great.”
Then came his strongest answer. When the fan asked whether AEW also pushes Samoan wrestlers, Andrade didn’t get into individual names or compare anyone’s booking. Instead, he praised AEW for giving wrestlers from different backgrounds and styles a chance.
“3 AEW is the best wrestling company and respects all wrestling styles; the company is less than 10 years old and features wrestlers from all over the world, they give everyone a chance. I’m tranquilo, happy, and focused on AEW.”
This all started after Andrade said Mexican wrestlers receive “very few opportunities” in WWE compared to some Samoan talent. He specifically gave Roman Reigns credit for making the most of his opportunity, but argued that other Samoan wrestlers have been given chance after chance while Mexican wrestlers such as Santos Escobar, Berto and Angel Garza haven’t received that same patience.
Bottom line: the fan wanted Andrade to stop blaming others and let his wrestling do the talking. Andrade’s answer was basically that he’s already where he wants to be, and he doesn’t seem interested in apologizing for explaining how he got there.
