Alexa Bliss had a pretty simple response for a fan who decided her ring gear meant she wanted to retire. After Bliss wore familiar gear at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, she explained that there’s a much more practical reason she keeps using it: the stuff is expensive.
Bliss competed alongside Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab in a six-woman tag team match at the show. Afterwards, one fan took to Twitter and criticized everything from Bliss’ gear to her moveset before suggesting she might be ready to call it a career.
“the old gear, the pink highlights fading, same three moves. i think she just wants to retire. #SNME”
Bliss spotted the comment and didn’t let the retirement claim sit there without an answer. Rather than getting particularly angry about it, she laughed off the criticism and explained exactly why fans might see her wearing the same gear more than once.
“Or… my gear is extremely Expensive & I wanna get as many uses of it as I can 🤣”
That pretty much cleared up the mystery. Bliss isn’t repeatedly wearing the gear because she’s checked out or thinking about retirement. She simply paid a lot of money for it and wants to get her money’s worth.
As for the match itself, Bliss had plenty to deal with before the social media criticism started. She got involved against B-Fab during the match and later attempted to help her team take control before B-Fab tripped her from ringside and sent her shoulder-first into the steel steps.
The finish ultimately came down to Flair and Cargill. After Flair and Paxley attempted Figure Eight Leg Locks on Michin and Cargill, both escaped, allowing Cargill to hit Flair with Jaded and pin The Queen to secure the victory for The Baddies.
Bliss may not have walked away with the win, but she clearly isn’t interested in letting fans turn a repeated outfit into some bigger statement about her career. Sometimes expensive wrestling gear is just expensive wrestling gear, and Bliss plans on getting as many matches out of hers as she can.
