AJ Styles has a big idea for Survivor Series, and it could turn WWE’s old brand warfare concept into something way more interesting.

During the Phenomenal Breakthrough Podcast, Styles talked about WWE having more options now thanks to its growing relationship with AAA. That led him to pitch a much bigger version of Survivor Series, one that could bring together champions from AAA, SmackDown, RAW, and NXT. Styles first brought up El Grande Americano and suggested fans already know where things could be heading with him in AAA.

“El Grande Americano and be world champion. I get he’s going to be world champion in AAA. I don’t think, you know, I’m pretty sure everybody believes that.”

That opened the door for Styles to pitch a bigger Survivor Series concept built around multiple brands and promotions instead of the usual RAW vs. SmackDown setup.

“I would love to see at Survivor Series AAA, SmackDown. I just, dude, you could do AAA, SmackDown, Raw, and NXT champions. Can you imagine? You can do NXT, AAA at Survivor Series. You know, like there’s a lot of things you can do, man. I think it would be really freaking cool.”

Styles then pointed back to the year NXT was added to Survivor Series after travel issues coming out of Saudi Arabia forced WWE to change course. He called that situation a strange blessing because it created something fresh. Styles said adding different brands only helps expose more talent and gives fans something new.

“The fact of the matter is NXT had to step up and then we had those triple threat matches for Survivor Series. They were really freaking cool cuz we added NXT to the mix.”

“It only helps the brand because it’s something unexpected and new that we could do to introduce a bunch of new superstars to the main roster. And they don’t have to be there, but cuz they can go back to AAA and they go back to NXT, but there’s bragging rights about what AAA accomplished.”

That is the kind of idea WWE could absolutely run with. Survivor Series has needed a fresh shot for years, and throwing AAA into the mix would instantly give the show a different feel.

AJ Styles clearly sees the money in making Survivor Series bigger than just WWE against WWE. With AAA now in the picture, WWE has a real chance to create something that feels different, international, and loaded with fresh matchups fans have not seen a hundred times already.
