AJ Styles may be retired, but he couldn’t stay away when his son needed help. Months after ending his in-ring career, “The Phenomenal One” made a surprise appearance over the weekend to come to Avery Styles’ rescue.
During an Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment show, Avery Styles found himself on the receiving end of a post-match beatdown before his father suddenly ran to the ring. AJ wasted no time clearing house, dropping three attackers with a series of punches and sending them scrambling from the ring.
The retired WWE legend looked ready to finish the job as he set up for a Styles Clash, but before he could hit his signature move, he was stopped. Instead, AJ turned his attention back to his son, extending a hand to help Avery back to his feet as the crowd erupted.
The appearance marked the first time AJ Styles has gotten physically involved in a wrestling ring since retiring earlier this year following his loss to GUNTHER at the 2026 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.
The moment also comes just weeks after Styles admitted there was only one scenario that could realistically convince him to wrestle again. Speaking on The AJ Styles Show, he revealed he’d consider returning for a meaningful match alongside his sons—but only if it happened on a big stage rather than as a novelty appearance.
This wasn’t the comeback fans have been hoping for, but it was the first time AJ has thrown punches inside a wrestling ring since retiring. Considering what he recently said about teaming with his sons one day, it’s hard not to wonder whether this family moment could eventually lead to something even bigger down the road.
After previously saying he’d only return for a meaningful match with his sons, do you think this moment is the first step toward AJ Styles eventually coming out of retirement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
