Adam Copeland has already announced that 2027 will be his final year as a professional wrestler, but AEW has not locked in the details for his farewell just yet.

Fightful Select followed up with an AEW source after Copeland’s retirement announcement and asked how far along the company is when it comes to planning his final match. According to that source, nothing is set in stone at this point. AEW has not finalized a date or location for Copeland’s last match, meaning the company still has plenty of decisions to make before his retirement run reaches the finish line.

The Toronto part is only speculation from the AEW source at this stage, not a finalized company plan. That still makes Toronto an obvious possibility considering Copeland’s Canadian roots and his long connection to the area, but there is currently no confirmed venue, date or announcement from AEW regarding where his final match will take place.

The update comes after Tony Khan revealed during the AEW WrestleDream media call that Copeland had already told him that 2027 would be his final year in the ring.

Khan was discussing Copeland’s retirement announcement from the October 14 episode of Dynamite/Collision when he confirmed that the announcement was planned in advance. According to Khan, Copeland had already made his intentions clear privately before telling fans, although the exact timing of his final match remains unknown. That uncertainty lines up with the latest update from Fightful Select. AEW knows Copeland intends to retire in 2027, but the actual farewell plans are still being worked out.

Copeland announced his retirement timeline after defeating Josh Alexander in a WrestleDream Clockwork Carnage qualifier on October 14. He also revealed that his TLC match with Christian Cage at AEW All Out left him with three broken ribs and a collapsed lung, injuries he said happened within the first five minutes.

Even after everything his body has been through, Copeland has already made it clear that he still has major goals left before walking away. The AEW World Championship remains one of them. For now, the only thing that appears certain is that 2027 will be Adam Copeland’s final year as a wrestler. Everything else, including the date, location and opponent for his final match, is still up in the air.

Where do you think Adam Copeland’s final match should take place, and who should be his last opponent? Let us know what you think in the comments.
