The show opens up with commentary welcoming us and they run down the four title matches taking place tonight. We then get a video package highlighting what went down last week to set up Kevin Knight defending his TNT Championship against MJF and that match is kicking off Dynamite right now.
MJF then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Kevin Knight follows as he is greeted by “Speedball” Mike Bailey. MJF has Justin Roberts do the intro specifically to say that he isn’t from a white t***h state like Virginia.
The match starts off with MJF kicking Knight to the stomach and sending him out of the ring. MJF then frustratingly sends Knight to the steel steps and he hits a powerbomb to the barricade. MJF then starts mocking Knight, grabbing a nearby camera to poke fun at Knight before bringing him back into the ring. Knight then starts to fight back before hitting the ropes, only to be sent flying by MJF. They then exchange offense until MJF hits a vertical suplex, going for the cover but only getting a two count. MJF then goes for a Heatseeker, but Knight breaks free before hitting him with a DDT.
MJF then finds himself scrambling to the ropes as Knight lays in some stomps and MJF gets back to his feet only to get caught with a powerslam by Knight. Knight then follows it up with a splash and a cover, but MJF kicks out. Knight then goes up, but MJF rolls out of harm’s way. Knight then doesn’t let this slide as he chases after MJF, sending him into the barricade before bringing him back into the ring. MJF then once again tries to get a breather on the outside, but Knight hits a dive through the ropes. Knight then brings MJF back into the ring and MJF once again tries to evade disaster, but to no avail as Knight hits a springboard forearm.
This pattern continues until MJF tries to go for another Heatseeker, but Knight breaks free again leading to both men trading near falls. Knight then hits the ropes, but is caught with a cutter by MJF and a cradle only gets him a two count. MJF then heads to the corner where Knight intercepts him and Knight sends MJF to the mat and he favors his knee afterward. Knight then goes up top and leaps off for a UFO splash, which MJF evades at the last second. MJF then goes after the leg of Knight, but he is shoved into the corner only to hit Knight with a thrust kick and a Panama Sunrise that gets him a near fall.
Back in the ring, MJF has a single leg crab cinched in tight on Knight as he pulls Knight away from the ropes. Knight then manages to kick MJF away to break the hold, but MJF climbs up the turnbuckle and he jumps into a thrust kick by Knight instead. Knight then goes up top, this time hitting the UFO splash but the damage keeps him from making a cover right away and that’s enough for MJF to kick out at two. Knight is favoring his knee as MJF rolls to the apron, where he drops Knight to the ropes with a dragon screw leg whip. He then continues to lay into the injured leg before hoisting Knight up for an Alabama slam.
MJF then goes for a cover and gets a two and he goes back on it two more times with the same result. MJF is frustrated by all this, leaving the ring to retrieve the TNT Championship from the timekeeper table. He then brings the belt into the ring, only for the referee to take it away from him. While the referee is distracted with this, MJF pulls out his Dynamite Diamond Ring only to take a low blow and an inside cradle by Knight for the win.
The winner and still the AEW TNT Champion, JetSpeed’s “The Jet” Kevin Knight!
