AEW is kicking off 2027 with the return of New Year’s Smash, and this time, the company is bringing two nights of wrestling to Atlanta.
AEW announced that Dynamite New Year’s Smash will take place on Friday, January 1, followed by Collision New Year’s Smash on Saturday, January 2. Both shows will be held at the Gateway Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
That means AEW is starting the new year with back-to-back shows at the same venue. The company hasn’t announced any matches for either event yet, but fans now know where AEW will be spending the first weekend of 2027.
New Year’s Smash has been part of AEW’s annual schedule since 2021, when the first edition took place at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Since then, the event has become one of the company’s regular holiday specials.
Last year’s New Year’s Smash took place on December 31, 2025, at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. That show featured a major title change, with Willow Nightingale defeating Mercedes Mone to capture the AEW TBS Championship.
Now AEW is moving the event to Atlanta for 2027, with Dynamite and Collision each getting their own New Year’s Smash edition. With the dates and location locked in, the next thing to watch is what AEW has planned for the cards. No matches have been confirmed so far.
