Action Andretti just walked out of ROH Death Before Dishonor with gold after taking the ROH World Television Championship from Lio Rush.
Andretti defeated Rush in a brutal Fight Without Honor match on August 21 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, ending Rush’s title reign after a match packed with weapons, interference and plenty of damage.
The two wasted no time tearing into each other. Brooms, chairs, trash cans, a shovel and tables all came into play as the fight spilled around ringside and back into the ring.
Things got even nastier when Rush poured broken glass into the ring and used a piece of it to cut Andretti’s forehead. Rush later slammed Andretti onto a table and brought out a barbed wire-covered chair as the match continued to spiral out of control.
Then the lights went out. When they came back on, HOOK was standing in the ring and immediately planted Rush into the broken glass. Anthony Bowens eventually joined the chaos and helped HOOK position Rush on a table before Andretti came flying off the top rope with a 450 splash through it.
Rush somehow kicked out at one after being dragged back into the ring, but he couldn’t survive much longer. Andretti sent Rush crashing into the red door and barbed wire before hitting Lights Camera Action for the three-count. Action Andretti was declared the winner and new ROH World Television Champion.
The insanity didn’t stop with the title change either. After the match, Rush opened a black box, pulled out a Black Heart and drank from it as black liquid poured from his mouth.
Death Before Dishonor delivered a major championship change, with Andretti surviving one of the wildest fights of the night to leave Philadelphia as the new ROH World Television Champion.
