The Undertaker is currently one of the main coaches for “WWE LFG,” but ever since reports surfaced that Michelle McCool would replace Mickie James in Season 2, he has faced accusations of using his backstage influence to get his wife on the show. However, a former WWE writer has now stepped in to defend The Deadman against these claims.

While speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo has defended The Undertaker against accusations that he used his backstage influence to get Michelle McCool on “WWE LFG.”Russo suggested that the decision may have come from the show’s producers rather than The Undertaker himself.

Russo believes that The Undertaker might have been hesitant to commit to a second season due to travel demands, and the producers could have offered to include McCool as a way to keep him involved. Russo emphasized that The Undertaker doesn’t seem like the type to push for his wife’s inclusion just to secure her a role.

“Maybe ‘Taker didn’t wanna commit to a second season and be away from home and be traveling and on the road. And maybe they suggested, ‘Well, what if your wife does it with you?’ You know what I am saying? ‘Cause I don’t think ‘Taker’s the kind of guy that is gonna say, ‘Listen, unless you get my wife a job, I…’ That’s not ‘Taker’s character. So maybe ‘Taker really didn’t want to go a season two and they said, ‘Well, listen, what if we made your wife a part of it.'”

Ringside News previously confirmed that Mickie James’ name was removed from the season two description of “WWE LFG.” The updated coaching lineup now includes The Undertaker, Booker T, Michelle McCool, and Bubba Ray Dudley.

It was also reported that The Undertaker played a role in getting his wife, Michelle McCool, on the show, as Fightful previously noted, “Undertaker was open to continuing the show if Michelle McCool was involved, so she was brought in to replace Mickie James.”

While some believe The Undertaker used his position to bring his wife into the show, others believe he is an obvious choice because of his legendary WWE career. Russo simply wanted to defend The Undertaker no matter what, and that’s what matters to Russo in the end.

Do you believe The Undertaker used his backstage influence to get Michelle McCool on “WWE LFG”? Or was this simply a producer-driven decision to keep him involved in the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
