Miro made a big impact when he joined AEW in 2020, even winning the TNT Championship early in his run. However, after requesting his release, many fans expected him to leave the company. In fact, it appears that he has officially parted ways with AEW.
Miro originally signed a two-year deal with AEW, set to end in spring 2022, but he extended it until spring 2026. However, creative disagreements have led Miro to ask for his release, as he continues to be off TV. In fact, several ideas for Miro’s return were rejected.
According to PWInsider, Miro is officially done with AEW. The report confirms that AEW and Miro reached a mutual agreement on his exit. It was also noted that both sides had been working on a deal for some time but it never came to fruition.
Many fans felt Miro deserved better in AEW as he simply didn’t get to accomplish much during his final year in the company. Now it remains to be seen whether he will return to WWE this year.
Miro’s last stint in WWE was marred by inconsistent booking by Vince McMahon which essentially ruined his credibility, to the point that he was happy about getting his WWE release. Therefore, we’ll have to see if Triple H will book him better, should Miro decide to return to WWE.
