Kevin Owens is no stranger to memorable wrestling moments, and his WrestleMania 38 match against Stone Cold Steve Austin was a dream come true for fans—and himself. But according to Owens, even Austin thought the match could have been even more epic if they had more time.

In a new interview released by WWE, Owens revealed what Austin told him after their showdown at WrestleMania 38. “He would tell me all the time after, ‘I wish they had given me a bit more time to get ready because if they had, we could have had a 25-minute classic,’” Owens recalled.

While the match delivered all the Stone Cold nostalgia fans could hope for, Austin had a different vision. “He said, ‘No need to go in the crowd or any of that stuff. Just bell to bell, just a good, classic wrestling match.’ That sounds awesome,” Owens shared. “But man, they just wanted Stone Cold beating my ass, and that’s what we gave them.”

Owens described the match as surreal, admitting he rewatched the moment the bell rang countless times. “For a good year after, I’d probably go back and watch not the whole match, but the moment the bell rings. I could watch it, no joke, 100 times in a row,” he said.

Stone Cold Steve Austin wanting more time for his WrestleMania clash with Kevin Owens just shows how much pride the legend takes in his craft. While fans loved the chaos and nostalgia, it’s wild to think about what could’ve been if they had gone the distance in a classic wrestling match.
