The wrestling world mourned the loss of Bray Wyatt, who passed away at just 36 years old last August. In tribute to his memory, many wrestlers honored the former WWE champion, including current AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland.

As memorably remembered, at AEW Full Gear pay-per-view, Strickland’s gear paid homage to Wyatt’s iconic attire as The Fiend, which was his captivating and demonic alter-ego that terrorized WWE.

In an interview with Adrian Hernandez ahead of AEW’s upcoming pay-per-view show, Double or Nothing, Strickland reflected on the influence Bray Wyatt had on him. Strickland admired Wyatt’s storytelling approach, noting how Wyatt’s use of subtle, weekly teases kept audiences engaged.

Despite not being able to share the locker room with him for much long during his time in WWE, Swerve stated that Bray Wyatt’s influence and creative genius had a profound impact on the entire locker room that inspired many WWE superstars who worked with him during his time in the global juggernaut.

“Bray was a master of pacing and intrigue,” Swerve explained. “Before his television return, he left barcodes and small clues everywhere. These elements, like a rabbit in the background or a puppet here and there, were designed to maintain viewer interest. In today’s fast-paced society, it’s challenging to capture and hold attention, but Bray’s patience and meticulous planning were remarkable. All the creative elements and intricate details were his brainchild. I deeply appreciated his innovative mind. Even though I didn’t share the locker room with him for long, his influence was profound. The impact of his presence and ideas has inspired me both personally and professionally.”

Swerve Strickland is set to defend his AEW World Championship against Christian Cage at AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday. While the legacy of Bray Wyatt is expected to be resurrected tonight at WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE by his younger brother, Bo Dallas, rumored to debut under his Uncle Howdy gimmick following the revelation of the mysterious QR code shenanigans prevalent for weeks.

Do you agree with Swerve Strickland’s comments regarding Bray Wyatt? Did his aura and presence leave a lasting impression on you as a fan like it did on his co-workers in WWE? Sound off in the comments!
