WWE Had Plans for The Rock to End Roman Reigns’ Title Run at WrestleMania 40

The Rock has surely made wrestling cool again. His return in 2024 has turned out to be one of the most successful returns in the history of the company with him taking a two-month stretch of regular TV appearances and a return to the ring as well. 

WrestleMania 40 was clearly a massive hit. And the biggest reason was undoubtedly the Bloodline story and the main event match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, where the latter ended Reigns’ historic title run to finish his story. However, Rhodes was not always considered to be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns. 

As per the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was an idea around WrestleMania that The Rock would end Roman Reigns’ title run and then ‘give up’ the title before going back to the Hollywood industry. 

However, it seems like the fan reaction to The Rock vs Roman Reigns announcement turned things around. Though The Rock has gone back to Hollywood for now, his return is bound to happen and a match with Roman Reigns would likely end his wrestling career.  

A possible clash between both men will surely be something to watch out for in the future. However, it seems like a title won’t be involved in the picture this time around.
