Matt Riddle’s time in WWE was tumultuous, marred by controversies stemming from his conduct outside the ring, ultimately culminating in his unexpected release last year. He lost the NJPW World TV Title and now his status with NJPW has been revealed.

Matt Riddle won the NJPW World TV Title in February by defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi. He secured the victory by delivering the BroDerek, marking his first reign as champion and ending Tanahashi’s 50-day reign.

However, at NJPW Windy City Riot on Friday, Riddle lost the title to Zack Sabre Jr. after being pinned. Despite the loss, Riddle left the ring smiling, leading to speculation that he may be done with the promotion.

While speaking on Zack Sabre Jr.’s victory makes him the first-ever two-time NJPW World Television Champion. He was the inaugural champion, having won the title at Wrestle Kingdom in January 2017 and holding it for exactly one year. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next in store for The King of Bros now that he is not a champion., Dave Meltzer mentioned that despite the speculation about Matt Riddle’s future, he still has upcoming dates scheduled with NJPW.
