The recent unexpected releases of several superstars from the AEW roster led to a lot of backlash. While the motives behind Tony Khan’s decision to part ways with these talents were not known initially, fans and industry insiders believed Khan was just wrong to have released so many talent at the same time. With that said, Khan released some AEW stars due to their repeated failure to appear at scheduled events.

The recent release of Brent and Brandon Tate, known as The Boys in Ring of Honor, came as a surprise to many fans. Their departure is particularly unexpected as they had been integral to an ongoing storyline involving Dalton Castle and Johnny TV in Ring of Honor.

Castle and TV were set to have a significant match at Supercard of Honor tomorrow night, with The Boys presumably playing a key role in the storyline.

During the Supercard of Honor media call, Tony Khan provided insight into the release of The Boys, highlighting that the duo failed to show up for work on multiple occasions. As a result, he made the difficult decision to release them from their contracts.

Khan explained that these releases were made with AEW carefully monitoring their budget, ensuring they have resources available to compete for top talent in the industry

Interestingly enough, one released AEW star will return to the company once he is cleared for in-ring action. Nevertheless, fans will agree with Khan’s decision this time around.
