Ronda Rousey exited WWE following her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam the previous year. And now it appears Rousey made it clear she couldn’t care less that fans hated her final WWE match.

At SummerSlam last August, Ronda Rousey faced off against Shayna Baszler in what now seems to be her last WWE match ever. The bout harkened back to their UFC origins, with the two competing in an MMA Rules match. Ultimately, Baszler secured the victory, dealing Rousey her first submission loss in her professional wrestling career.

The match between Rousey and Baszler received mixed reviews from fans worldwide due to its unconventional nature, resulting in slow and uncomfortable action. In her upcoming book Our Fight: A Memoir, Rousey expressed her pride in the match, feeling that they successfully portrayed realism.

However, she acknowledged that despite their efforts, the lack of appreciation from the fans led her to view the match as a ‘f**k you’ to both the fans and the company.

”In that moment, in the ring, every single thing made sense, every motion anticipated and capitalized on, not because it was scripted but because it wasn’t. Shayna and I flowed from one spot to the next because we knew how to fight, how to make it real, how to make it make sense. For the very last time, I loved every second of it.

Somewhere in the crowd, I heard the rumblings of “This is boring.” But the fans weren’t able to sync up from around the stadium and the chant died. I didn’t even care. I expected the fans weren’t going to understand. They weren’t going to appreciate it.

If anything, making them sit through it was my last “f**k you” to them and the company. But it was the match that we wanted it to be. It was a match that I was proud of. That’s all that mattered.”

Shayna Baszler also explained why she and Ronda Rousey didn’t get to have Fight Pit match at SummerSlam instead. Ronda Rousey has also retired from professional wrestling for good, and also revealed her heel turn pitches were often rejected. Nevertheless, what’s done is done and nothing can change that.
