Will Ospreay made significant headlines when he officially joined AEW last year at Full Gear, signifying his shift to becoming a full-time member of the AEW roster. He has already had solid matches in AEW and there are more to come. There was a chance he could’ve gone to WWE, but he chose not to. Interestingly enough, WWE personnel feel Triple H underestimated Ospreay’s value.

At AEW Full Gear, Will Ospreay made a notable declaration, announcing his intention to join AEW on a full-time basis after fulfilling his commitments with NJPW, which are expected to conclude in February.

This decision propels Ospreay as one of the top free agents in the wrestling industry. Despite holding discussions with multiple promotions, he ultimately chose to sign with AEW.

While Will Ospreay’s in-ring performances are usually praised, he has also been able to display his personality on AEW television, as seen in this week’s AEW Dynamite: Big Business episode.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, individuals within WWE have indicated that Ospreay’s promo skills were not factored into Triple H’s consideration when negotiating with the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Meltzer elaborated on this point when discussing Ospreay’s recent promo on Big Business.

I just think that if Triple H is watching this, he’s going like, ‘Holy f**k’.

“They know he’s a good wrestler, but I don’t think they know that he’s the charismatic person and talker and can get over.

“I know people in WWE when this was going down – it was becoming very clear he was going to AEW and not WWE – and they (WWE) offered a lot less money.

“I know people there were going like, ‘He (Triple H) didn’t realize’. They knew, but he just didn’t realize. He just thought, ‘Ah, he’s one of these great workers’.”

Will Ospreay also claimed that AEW offered him much better deal than WWE. We will have to wait and see whether Will Ospreay will be booked as a proper star in the coming months, as there are a lot of expectations for AEW right now.
