AEW Big Business began with her long-awaited return of Mercedes Mone to wrestling and ended with her taking the spotlight of the main event to close the show.

The CEO made her highly speculated debut on tonight’s edition of AEW Big Business to a thunderous response and loud ‘CEO’ chants from the audience in attendance. While she expressed a lot of emotion on her first night in AEW, Mercedes also namedropped her former rival, Willow Nightingale who scored a major upset over her a few months ago.

Willow Nightingale was in action in the main event against the resilient star, Riho. The two displayed a highly exhilarating wrestling bout befitting for a grand show like Big Business, with Willow picking up the win in the end.

However, as she stood tall to celebrate, the lights went out in the arena and came back to reveal AEW TBS champion Julia Hart staring down her potential next challenger at the ramp. Just then, Hart’s ally Skye Blue launched a sneak attack on Willow with Julia also entering the fray to put her down.

Just when Willow Nightingale seemed to be outnumbered, her former rival Mercedes Mone came out to even the odds and send the duo packing. While it seemed that she would go after Willow, the same woman against whom she suffered devasting ankle injury in a match last year, Mone instead offered her a handshake which she accepted and raised Mercedes’ hand.

Mercedes Mone stood tall, meeting with the audience and posing for the camera right after as AEW went off the air with loud CEO chants for the newest All Elite signee.

What are your thoughts on Mercedes Mone making the save for Willow Nightingale? Do you think it is nothing but a ruse? Sound off in the comments!
