WWE and its direct competitor in the business of professional wrestling have been going head-to-head for years now. While it has been common to mention each other subtly, this week’s RAW went a step ahead to show an AEW star on their live televised programming tonight.

On tonight’s edition of RAW, as Michael Cole and Pat McAfee spoke about the success of the recent UFC 299 event, the screen showed a photo of current WWE Women’s World champion Rhea Ripley and her real-life fiance, Buddy Matthews who were in attendance for the show.

While the AEW star was shown for a good amount of time on WWE’s programming, Cole restrained from mentioning his name while McAfee asked who it was with The Eradicator.

As it is well known, Buddy Matthews is currently a member of The House of Black faction in AEW that is feuding with Mark Briscoe. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley sits atop the throne of the Women’s division on RAW as the dominant champion.

Moreover, it was only last week that WWE mentioned the retirement of The Icon Sting, who wrestled his final match for AEW at their recent pay-per-view show, Revolution. With many mentions floating around, it would be interesting if a cross-over could be worked out between the rivals for a huge match or segment in the future.
