AEW delivered on its promise of a surprise signing, unveiling the return of Will Ospreay at Full Gear 2023. His official comeback to AEW hints at significant plans the promotion has in the works for him.

During recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about his past triumphs in AEW. His speech was abruptly interrupted by the Don Callis family, who formally welcomed him back. Led by Don Callis, the family heightened anticipation for Ospreay’s upcoming clash with Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Revolution, branding it as a pivotal match.

Tensions escalated between Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita, nearly leading to a confrontation before other members of the Don Callis family intervened.

On the Mat Men Podcast, Andrew Zarian shared insights into AEW’s plans for its talent roster. Zarian highlighted the promising trajectory for Will Ospreay, emphasizing that he’s just one of the names receiving significant attention. AEW intends to spotlight talents such as Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, Daniel Garcia, Orange Cassidy, and Kazuchika Okada.

“They have great plans for Ospreay. Every conversation I’ve had with anybody in that company, it is very evident who their future is. Will Ospreay, Takeshita obviously is in that mix, Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, Daniel Garcia, Orange Cassidy, obviously Okada. These are guys they put great emphasis on, in that next generation of talent.”

Ospreay’s upcoming bout against Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Revolution marks his first match as a full-time AEW star. It remains to be seen how AEW will craft his storyline now that he’s a permanent fixture in their roster.

Given the momentum and attention surrounding Will Ospreay, speculation arises regarding his potential to capture the AEW World Championship this year. Share your thoughts on whether you believe Ospreay will claim the title in the comments section below!
