The Rock created a stir by briefly taking Cody Rhodes’ spot at WrestleMania 40, but the situation was eventually corrected. In a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, he delivered a full-fledged heel promo, channeling his 1998 heel persona and even sporting a Versace shirt.
On SmackDown last week, The Rock revived his iconic heel appearance and criticized the fans in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mocking their desire for Cody Rhodes to ‘finish the story’ at WrestleMania, The Rock pledged to thwart any possibility of this happening. Additionally, The Rock was officially acknowledged as a member of the Bloodline faction.
During the Attitude Era, The Rock made a point of flaunting his affluence and arrogance by wearing $500 Versace shirts. Adjusting for inflation, in 2024, those same shirts would now cost approximately $946. This practice was notably highlighted in 1998, the year of The Rock’s first WWF title win.
With an average inflation rate of 2.48% per year between 1998 and today, there has been a cumulative price increase of 89.21%. Based on inflation, Versace’s shirts would be expected to cost close to $950, and items listed on Versace’s website are currently priced at $1,500.
Moreover, The Rock dubbed himself “The Devil” in the aftermath of his SmackDown appearance, even suggesting that his words may have contained deception. Now that The Rock is a member of The Bloodline, the conclusion of WrestleMania 40’s closing moments is uncertain, especially if The Rock decides to betray The Bloodline in the future. The twists and turns on the Road to WrestleMania 40 are yet to be revealed, and fans will have to wait to see the unfolding drama.
