Cody Rhodes was originally slated to headline WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns after winning the Royal Rumble, but that’s not happening anymore as The Rock will square off against Roman Reigns instead. Now it appears Triple H was well aware of The Rock’s WrestleMania 40 plans when he was booking the Royal Rumble.

Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown ended with tension as The Rock confronted Roman Reigns. Cody Rhodes introduced The Great One into the scene, as he gave up his WrestleMania 40 title shot, causing outrage among fans.

Many fans also questioned just what was the point behind The Royal Rumble anymore if Rhodes just gave up his shot against Roman Reigns. There was also a notion that Triple H had no idea about The Rock’s plans either.

Dave Meltzer took to Twitter and set the record straight on the matter, as he stated that Triple H was more than aware of The Rock’s WrestleMania 40 plans when he was booking the Royal Rumble.

‘My buddy Jay told me that since his tweets are private I probably should note that the idea that Paul Levesque didn’t know about Rock’s signing with the company and him wrestling Reigns when he booked the Rumble is clearly not the case. He knew exactly what he was doing.”
