Roman Reigns And Cody Rhodes Come Face-To-Face During 2/2 Episode of WWE SmackDown

One of the biggest talking points for the past year has been Cody Rhodes’ quest to finish his story. Cody came close to doing so at WrestleMania 39 but fell short to Roman Reigns.

The American Nightmare will get one more shot at redemption following his win at the 2024 Royal Rumble. It should be noted that Cody pointed at Reigns after winning the match indicating who he was going to challenge at WrestleMania 40.

However, Seth Rollins turned the tables when he asked Cody Rhodes to challenge him instead of the Tribal Chief. This plea confused the American Nightmare who wasn’t able to come to decision. Following this, Rhodes announced that he was headed to SmackDown.

Tonight on SmackDown, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes were set to come face-to-face. Reigns came out first and asked the fans to acknowledge him. He then said that there were some things said on Monday that they couldn’t let slide. He addressed what Seth said on RAW. He then said he beat all of Rollins’ challengers.

Reigns says Rollins broke his back trying to carry the show within three months. Reigns says he makes more money than Seth by working less. Reigns called Cody an idiot. He then says he won’t beg Cody like Rollins. He says Cody can either take a shot at being number one or settle for number two.

Cody Rhodes then came out to the ring. Cody asked if they could have the ring to themselves. Roman asked Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso to leave the ring and they leave. Cody says Roman cheated him. He said he had him and Reigns knows it. Cody said Rollins called the WWE Championship the Hollywood title but he was wrong.

Cody said he wants the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He said finishing the story is about taking everything away from him. He then said he wants the WWE Championship and he is coming for him but not at WrestleMania.

Cody said he spoke to someone who knows him very well. The Rock’s music hit and he walked out. The Rock hugged Cody and whispered something in his ear. Cody then walked out of the ring. The Rock then came face-to-face with Roman Reigns to close out the show.

This segment actually gave fans a lot more questions than answers. Cody still hasn’t announced his decision. We will have to wait and see what this means for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship picture at WrestleMania 40.
