Bayley is one of the most beloved, and now hated, wrestlers in the WWE and is one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble this weekend.

The former WWE and NXT Women’s Championship is the leader of Damager CTRL, where she has led Dakota Kai and IYO SKY since their debut at together at Summerslam 2023. She has been a key part of both women’s careers since then, with SKY’s WWE Women’s Championship win at Money in the Bank 2023 a particular highlight of her year.

Speaking with Uproxx, Bayley revealed that she feels a lot of responsibility toward her group, as well as other women in the WWE at this time. The former NXT Women’s Champion feels it is her responsibility to champion the underutilized women in the company, which is what she has done so far in the WWE over the years.

“I’ve done a lot up until this point. With Damage CTRL, I feel like I’m on a different level than everybody else, even the women that I came up with, because it comes with a different responsibility. Bringing up Dakota, bringing up girls and vouching for them, it’s a different type of responsibility than just having to worry about yourself.”

“The fact that I’ve been able to do that successfully and add to it that IYO is the champion right now just puts me on a different level. I think this year is going to solidify who I am and what I’ve brought to the industry and to the company.”

“Whether it’s women in “NXT” right now or whether it’s someone backstage like an Indi Hartwell or Candice LeRae that isn’t getting that TV time, that can be main event superstars, I think that is one of my main purposes here.”

Bayley is one of the favorites to win the 2024 Royal Rumble match, with a bout against teammate IYO SKY likely to take place at WrestleMania 40.
