Tama Tonga’s status in New Japan Pro Wrestling has been a major topic of discussion ever since he announced at Wrestle Kingdom 18 that he would leave the company after this month. An NJPW talent claimed that Tonga was fired and now Tonga has reacted to that exact claim.

Tama Tonga secured his fourth NEVER Openweight Title by defeating Shingo Takagi, a victory that surprised fans who expected him to remain with NJPW. As stated above, Tanga announced his departure from the company.

In case you didn’t know, Tama Tonga will put his NEVER Openweight Championship on the line against EVIL on January 20 at NJPW New Beginning in Nagoya. Ahead of the match, EVIL claimed that NJPW had fired Tama Tonga already, especially after he was listed as the NEVER Openweight Champion on the NJPW website.

In light of such allegations, Tama Tonga took to Twitter and expressed his shock at NJPW removing him from their website. Tonga made it clear he had no idea what was going on.

???? WTF is going on?”

It has become quite apparent that this is now a storyline, but it is likely that Tonga will be dropping the title to EVIL and then make his way to some other promotion. We’ll have to see which company Tonga will call his home next, as Tonga previously had contract talks with WWE.
