Matt Riddle stirred controversy in WWE due to his off-ring behavior, ultimately resulting in his surprising departure last year. He already made his in-ring return at MLW this week and during the match, a former WWE personality made it clear he couldn’t believe WWE fired Riddle.

It was previously confirmed that The Original Bro would be joining Major League Wrestling; something that fans were very surprised about since they expected him to debut in AEW instead.

The King of Bros returned to action after his WWE release in September last year. He faced Jacob Fatu at the Major League Wrestling’s Kings of Colosseum event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 6, 2024. He would also pick up the win in the end.

At one point during the match, MLW announcer and ex-WWE personaltiy Matt Striker gave a ton of props to Matt Riddle but then also questioned why WWE would ever release Riddle, despite the latter’s personal issues.

“How do you let this guy go? This guy is a star. A mega million dollar star. I don’t care what he does. How do you let him go? This is our coup de grâce right here.”

Matt Riddle also made it clear he will be ditching his goofy WWE character. The Original Bro is also set for his NJPW debut soon as well. It remains to be seen how he will fare in the independent circuit for the time being.
