Drew McIntyre’s Sword Gimmick Called Out For Being ‘Super Lame & Corny’

Drew McIntyre is known for his many achievements, and that sword named Angela that he carries to the ring. Although the sword, named after Drew McIntyre’s own mother, has sentimental value to the Scottish Warrior, it isn’t over with everyone.

Drew McIntyre’s sword is a part of his gimmick, one that was given to him by Vince McMahon. Although it works to create a cool visual during his entrance, he’s never got to use a sword during his matches, because that would be murder, or at least assault with a deadly weapon.

During a recent edition of Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan spoke about former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, following his loss to Seth Rollins in a title bout on WWE Raw Day 1. 

“I did think he looks super lame [and] corny … coming down with the sword named Angela. I know it’s [named] after his mom, but still. … What are you gonna do with that? You gonna impale somebody?”

Konnan also went on to speak about Drew McIntyre’s famous kilt look. He doesn’t seem anything wrong with that, but the sword is a bit much.

“I don’t see [anything] wrong with [McIntyre] wearing a kilt. He’s a Scotsman. … And I think they’re doing really interesting TV with him right now.”

Seth Rollins defeated McIntyre in their rematch on last Monday’s Raw to retain the World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Day 1. That was quite a match, and now we have to see what is next for everyone involved.

Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is also running up in 2024. As of this writing, it does not look like he has inked a new deal yet. That being said, there is still a bit of time for them to figure something out.
