Ric Flair is never short on answers, especially when he has a reply ready to go. He joined AEW as a gift to Sting from Tony Khan, but that brings another question about whether The Nature Boy will stick around after The Icon departs.

It’s been over two months since Ric Flair made his debut in AEW, and his time with the promotion has been relatively low-key. However, things are expected to pick up as Flair is anticipated to play a role in the final months of Sting’s career.

Sting, who is Ric Flair’s long-time friend and rival, is set to retire at AEW Revolution in Greensboro, North Carolina, this March. That match at AEW Revolution will certainly have a ton of fanfare around it.

During an interview with The Wrestling Classic, Flair acknowledged that Sting’s retirement likely played a significant role in him joining AEW. Flair confirmed that he will continue with AEW even after Sting’s retirement. He is also ready to do whatever he can in AEW, including managing his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo.

“I’ve known Tony for a long time, we’ve been great friends. And the opportunity just presented itself, probably because of Sting. But I’ll be there a couple of years after Sting is gone too. I don’t know what it leads to. I’d like to manage my son-in-law. Obviously, I want to be a heel again somewhere.”

“My health is good, I can get into the ring. Not to wrestle, let’s clarify that…I just really enjoy it. Tony’s a great guy, and it’s a great atmosphere. When I walked into the dressing room first, I didn’t realize how many guys from the WWE are over there now. They’ve got a tremendous crew…They have as much talent in AEW as they do in WWE.”

It appears that Ric Flair’s deal with Tony Khan, although he was brought in via the storyline as a gift for The Stinger, is not tied to Sting at all. The two WWE Hall of Famers may have links, but Ric Flair may continue doing whatever he can for AEW even after AEW Revolution.
