AEW President Tony Khan has a lot of passion for the world of professional wrestling, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done a lot of questionable things over the years. That said, he is proud of his company and has now made a claim that AEW’s numbers are better than WCW’s numbers.

The AEW President has been at the helm of the company since day one and has been booking every single decision since then – for better or worse. Of course, many have compared AEW to WCW for a wide variety of reasons.

It is a well-known fact that WCW dominated Monday Night RAW at one point for 83 weeks and many believed WCW dropped the ball towards the last couple of years of its existence, essentially killing the promotion.

While speaking during the post-ROH Final Battle Media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan talked about AEW’s ticket sales numbers, where he claimed that AEW has done better numbers than WCW in the mid-90s.

The numbers we’re doing for our tickets are not only comparable to what WCW was doing in the mid 90s, but in many cases better. So our numbers are better per show than in WCW 94 and right on 96 and 95.”

Many fans are unlikely to believe what Tony Khan had to say as ticket sales for AEW have been decreasing over the past year, which is a major cause of concern for the company. Regardless, we’ll have to see what Khan will do to improve AEW in the end.
