CM Punk’s journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, filled with its fair share of drama and unexpected twists.

After parting ways with AEW a few months ago, Punk found himself back in the WWE fold, and he appears to be relishing every moment of it. However, his exit from AEW was far from ordinary.

AEW made the decision to terminate Punk’s contract following a swift disciplinary process that involved notable figures like Bryan Danielson and legal experts. But it was AEW President Tony Khan who ultimately pulled the trigger on Punk’s departure, sending shockwaves through the wrestling world.

The catalyst for Punk’s exit was a physical altercation with Jack Perry, which took place during All In. Punk’s last match in AEW was against Samoa Joe, a memorable encounter at that event. But Punk’s AEW tenure was marred by backstage turmoil, including a highly publicized brawl with The Elite at All Out 2022.

As the dust settled, Punk found himself in a situation where he was bound by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), preventing him from discussing his AEW departure or divulging information about certain individuals within the promotion. Khan, too, found himself legally constrained from commenting on the situation, as he publicly acknowledged.

Surprisingly, Punk’s response to his AEW release wasn’t one of despair or disappointment. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, he wasn’t overly distraught when he received the news. In fact, he took proactive steps, reaching out to WWE approximately ten days before Survivor Series to explore the possibility of a return. Earlier in the year, he had even made a brief backstage appearance at Raw in Chicago, attempting to mend fences with Triple H and engage in a conversation with The Miz.

“He was not that upset when he was fired. I was told he was not looking to be fired, but he was not that upset about being fired.”

In the end, it appears that Punk’s departure from AEW was met with a level of acceptance, if not indifference. His return to WWE has reignited the wrestling world’s excitement, and fans eagerly await the next chapter in the ever-dramatic career of CM Punk.
